When choosing a facility to Archive your media the most important thing to consider is the machinery used to play the media. At Broadcast Tapes we utilize only the highest-quality devices. We archive 10 pieces of media at a time with 2 operators, plus a full-time technician to keep all the machines running at optimum performance.

Digitization of Multiple formats of tape.

1" reel to reel, Umatic 3/4" Cassettes, BetacamSP Cassettes, DVCAM and MP4. Other media formats can be requested. Audio is also very important. We come out of the left & right XLR outputs. Ensuring the highest quality & split Mono audio.

Archiving Media

Scan all information on the face & spine of the media. Bates number each tape. Create PDF of the entire order so it can be utilized in OCR. Upload finished project to cloud. We offer different levels of cloud security, all the way up to the highest level, fully DOD compliant encryption. All media is zipped and password protected.

Color Correction, Editing, Graphics & Organization.

Take media into Premier & correct color & Audio levels. Organize media by date or as instructed. Create graphics to explain where & when the media was created. Use a filing nomenclature that logically organizes the data.

I started editing video in 1982. A pair of Panasonic NV 8500 VHS Recorders. Soon I was editing from BetacamSP to reel to reel 1". The B player was a 3/4" deck. That is where the B-Roll comes from. Then came D3. Editing from BetacamSP. Pre- read editing was a massive breakthrough. You could perform a dissolve with just the recorder & the source deck. Finally, in 2000 I went to digital editing. Over the years I bought up decks. I now own close to 100. My engineer Joe has been going through every machine to ensure the highest quality.
